How affiliate marketing works
When you make a purchase or, sometimes, carry out some other action as direct result of clicking on a link on our website, we will receive a small commission.
For example, when you click on links in our Luxury List, or travel guides, we will receive a commission if you decide to make a purchase or even sometimes if you purchase something else on the site entirely.
The level of commission varies depending on the merchant but generally it’s a few percent of the price of the item you purchase.
A large number of our links are affiliate links by automation, so many sites we link you to may generate commission.
From time to time we may publish news articles about our affiliate partners concerning promotions, offers, new products and so on. The links in these articles are also affiliate links.
Occasionally manufacturers and publishers send us items to review. In such instances it will be clearly stated in the review that this is the case. We never accept payment or products in return for a positive review. Sponsored content is always clearly stamped, so you know when we have been paid to tell you about a product or service, however we will always ensure that our content is honest and reflects our views as a company.
We use two types of affiliated links on our site: Skimlinks, and links using our own technology.
Skimlinks is commonly used on many websites – it tracks links to some retailers and service providers, and generates an affiliate link when applicable, which will generate revenue for this site if a purchase is made.
For some retailers, instead of using Skimlinks to track links, we use affiliated links set up through other third parties. However, in every other regard they work exactly like Skimlinks (except that the Skimlinks and don’t apply to them).
Importantly none of these changes the content, what you see, nor tracks individuals’ personal data, however it does allow us to continue to provide you our content for free.
It takes a lot of time and money to run our website, so it’s thanks to affiliate marketing that it can be operated to a high standard and is free for everyone to use.
The money we make from affiliate marketing costs you nothing but keeps us online, so thank you for your continued support!
