The summer exhibition is a firm fixture on London’s summer calendar, when the great and the good of the art world flock to Piccadilly to view works from established and upcoming artists. , a favourite amongst the art crowd for decades, is a short walk to the RA, and a wonderful spot at which to digest and discuss the works on display at the RA.
The Royal Academy’s annual Summer Exhibition celebrates its 250th anniversary in 2018. To mark this momentous occasion, the exhibition will be co-ordinated by Grayson Perry RA along with a Summer Exhibition Committee of Royal Academicians chaired by the President of the Royal Academy, Christopher Le Brun. This year’s committee members are Phyllida Barlow, Piers Gough, Allen Jones, David Mach, Humphrey Ocean, Chris Orr, Cornelia Parker, Tom Phillips, Conrad Shawcross and Emma Stibbon. Piers Gough RA will curate the Architecture Gallery.
To celebrate the exhibition, Le Caprice has partnered with the Royal Academy to offer an exclusive exhibition and dining package priced at £39 per person, including a ticket to the exhibition, a two-course meal and glass of wine at Le Caprice and a print from the exhibition to take home. Le Caprice will also showcase thirteen archival prints for the duration of the RA250 Summer Exhibition.
Le Caprice, just around the corner from the RA on Arlington Street, is one of London’s oldest restaurants. First opened in 1947 by Mario Gallati, former Maître d’ of The Ivy, it was relaunched in 1981 and quickly became a social institution with a devoted international clientele including movie stars, diplomats and royalty.
