In partnership with The Methuen Arms
Have you been eyeing up this week’s Hotel of the Week? So have we all… Luckily for you, C&TH are giving readers the opportunity to win a 2-night mini break there! Enter our competition now for the staycation of your dreams…
Ash and Abi are that rare but winning combination, hotel managers who are both professional and fun. Their enthusiasm and drive have secured the reputation of this former coaching inn as a first-rate local pub-restaurant on Corsham’s charming High Street. Although a pub since 1608, its handsome façade is Georgian in common with many of its neighbours’, and at the back a pretty courtyard, ringed by mature trees, comes into its own in summer.
There might be a convivial buzz in the bar downstairs, but all is cool and harmonious in the decoration: Farrow & Ball colours, stone and wood floors, tall windows, tweed cushions and leather banquettes. Plus comfy armchairs, Roberts radios, mini fridges, thick blankets and feather pillows in each of the 19 reassuringly calm bedrooms.
Award-winning head chef Leigh Evans is the Methuen Arms’ secret weapon. He chooses only local, top quality ingredients for the all-day restaurant to create simple, seasonal dishes, crammed full of exciting flavours.
See – Methuen is a stone’s throw from Bath. There’s also nearby Corsham Court, or Westonbirt Arboretum.
Eat – All of Leigh’s food in the restaurant! Afternoon Tea is also a winner, in the newly decorated lounge.
Buy – Tickets to a Bath rugby game – the club was formed in 1865, making the oldest and most famous rugby club in the world.
Competition closes on 31st May 2018 – but check back weekly for the next Hotel of the Week competition!
