1. Garsington Opera
Situated in the rolling Chiltern Hills of Buckinghamshire, and only an hour away from London, offers a collection of great artistic talent and quality. The 2018 seasons brings the world premiere of David Sawer’s The Skating Rink – the first opera on an ice rink! Verdi and Strauss also highlight the summer season, as well as Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte or The Magic Flute: his much-loved musical that sees love and reason triumph over evil and chaos, from 31 May to 21 July.

The original, exuberant outdoor cultural opera extravaganza presents a summer programme with works from Puccini, Handel and Debussy. Puccini’s tragic romance of Madame Butterfly kicks off the season with the story of an innocent Geisha who risks her life to marry an American lieutenant, from 19 May to 18 July.
3. Nevill Holt Opera
While it only had its first season in 2013, the has gone from strength to strength and provided continuous support to growing operatic stars. June brings a five-star acclaimed production from NIOpera and Director Antony McDonald. The opera, Powder her Face by Thomas Adés, is a darkly comic and inspired by the sensational life of the ‘Dirty Duchess’ of Argyll, 28 and 30 June.
4. The Grange Festival
In the heart of Hampshire, is situated at the 17th-century country house, The Grange, surrounded by beautiful Hampshire countryside. As well as dance, the festival boasts operas as disparate as Agrippina and The Barber of Seville, The Abduction from the Seraglio and Candide, from 16 June to 18 July.
5. Opera Holland Park
Regarded as one of the most exciting Opera events in London, is an event not to be missed. Grab a picnic, pop open some champagne and enjoy La Traviata and Così fan tutte in this year’s line-up, as well as Ariadne auf Naxos and Isabeau. Perfect for the whole family or a romantic evening for two. 1 June to 29 July.
