Bristol Jazz & Blues Festival

March 22 - March 24

What?

You might have heard of the Bristol Jazz & Blues festival if you love all things jazz. You might also have heard of it because it’s been around for seven years, and has become a cultural staple in Bristol’s music event calendar, attracting around 8,000 visitors each year. This year, the festival is back with its best line-up yet, and 3 days of free music, dance events, and performances by some of the best jazz and blues musicians in the world.

This year’s line up boasts something for everyone. Highlights not to miss include:

  • , an ensemble performing Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn’s jazzy re-imaginings of the classic Tchaikovsky piece The Nutcracker Suite, and Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite.
  • , a jazz singer star-to-watch who’ll be performing Billie Holiday’s Lady in Satin album to celebrate its 60th anniversary.
  • who’ll transport those watching and listening back to the days of the blues – Peterson is not only an incredible singer but a guitarist, organist, and an American blues legend.

Since Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald were the headliners at Bristol’s Colston Hall, the English city has been known for its connection to the blues and jazz genres of music. The Bristol Jazz & Blues festival was born seven years ago to celebrate this history, and each year, the festival and its attendees make sure this illustrious connection between city and music is long-continued.
