The festival started in 2008 as a way of supporting Malton and its abundance of independent, artisan food and drink producers. A decade later and a pop-up market appears in the town on the second Saturday of the month (from February to December), a Harvest Food Festival takes over in autumn while Street Food Sundays are hosted twice monthly from June to August. Antonio Carluccio, the brains behind the Carluccio’s restaurants, named Malton as Yorkshire’s food capital in 2015 and since, the town’s reputation for top quality produce has grown each year.
The place to be this spring to experience some of Yorkshire’s finest cuisine, and a lovely excuse to get out of town for a weekend.
The festival bar will open on the 25 May and the festival will begin the day after.
