May 25 - May 27

Malton Food Lovers Festival

Where? Malton Town Centre

What? Yorkshire’s award-winning food town hosts the renowned food lovers’ festival this May for the tenth year running. Taking over Malton’s picturesque town centre for two days only, the festival will be visited by those near and far who want to see the beautiful Yorkshire countryside accompanied by some local culinary delights.

Four of Yorkshire’s own Michelin-starred chefs will be headlining the festival and hosting cookery demonstrations, talks and interviews over the weekend. Tommy Banks, winner of The Great British Menu in both 2016 and 2017, will be bringing his unique flavours to the festival, as will the owner and chef of at Harome, Andrew Pern. James Mackenzie from will also be making an appearance, as will the owner of Leeds’ , Michael O’Hare.

The Pigott Brothers from the popular BBC programme Family Cooking Showdown and the stars from BBC’s Further Back In Time For Dinner will also be gracing visitors with their presence over the three-day event. The main stage will sit in the heart of Malton town centre opposite St Michael’s Church, so visitors can also explore the new indoor market inside the . An outdoor street food and picnic area will be set up for those who want to enjoy their day outside (weather permitting), and Taverner’s Yard will open during the festival to offer a delicious range of Yorkshire’s finest alcoholic drinks to accompany all the delicious food.

The festival started in 2008 as a way of supporting Malton and its abundance of independent, artisan food and drink producers. A decade later and a pop-up market appears in the town on the second Saturday of the month (from February to December), a Harvest Food Festival takes over in autumn while Street Food Sundays are hosted twice monthly from June to August. Antonio Carluccio, the brains behind the Carluccio’s restaurants, named Malton as Yorkshire’s food capital in 2015 and since, the town’s reputation for top quality produce has grown each year.

The place to be this spring to experience some of Yorkshire’s finest cuisine, and a lovely excuse to get out of town for a weekend.

The festival bar will open on the 25 May and the festival will begin the day after.
