Planning on eating out on Christmas Day? Organising a festive meal out with friends? Last-minute office get-together? If you’re not in the mood for hosting this year, fear not: there are an abundance of chefs willing to do the hard work for you…

Bluebird

For a traditional festive feast inside a Narnia-themed wonderland, head to Chelsea haunt Bluebird, where Executive Chef Simon Gregory has created a special menu for the occasion. Christmas flavours run throughout, with dishes such as baked veteran, warm potato and toasted hazelnut salad with truffle; roast Norfolk Bronze turkey with all the trimmings and a Christmas pudding served with brandy custard.  £110pp for four courses, available 25 December

For a truly lavish festive affair, head to long-standing celebrity hotspot Chiltern Firehouse. Their Christmas Day offering begins with indulgent snacks for the table (including Firehouse’s signature crab doughnuts), followed by a traditional turkey roast, served with a sausage and sour berry stuffing and a truffle and bread sauce. If you’re not a turkey fan, alternatives will be available such as salt-baked celeriac risotto; or fillet steak with mushroom and peppercorn sauce. Top it all off with a classic Christmas pud and selection of continental cheeses.

There’s something about dining high in the sky that feels extra special, so if you’re opting to eat out this Christmas there’s nowhere better than Duck & Waffle. Located on the 40th floor of the Heron Tower, the swanky restaurant will cater for both carnivores and vegetarians on Christmas Day: the first includes the likes of  bacon wrapped dates and a traditional roasted leg of lamb, while veggies can feast on crispy polenta and artichoke ravioli. A Christmas feast wouldn’t be complete without a cheese board, which features on both menus, as well as their signature bauble dessert, made up of a Christmas sponge pudding, spiced ice cream and hot brandy sauce. £85pp, available 25 December

Dine amid beautiful theatrical decor at Sofitel London St James’ The Balcon restaurant, where guests are invited on an ‘Enchanted Journey’ inspired by the excitement and travels of the Christmas season. On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day they’re kicking things up a notch with a show-stopping six-course extravaganza, which includes foie gras to start, Welsh lamb Wellington and butter-basted turkey for mains, and truffle brie and chocolate croquant for dessert. £49 for the festive three-course menu (with a glass of Champagne), £110 for the six-course menu

The Lanesborough

Served in the palatial Michelin-starred Céleste restaurant, groups of four or more will be able to dine on a festive lunch menu until 23 December. Enjoy alongside inventive cocktails, and be sure to get a good Instagram of the beautiful hanging roses window display.
